When Art and Pat arrived at my parents' house in order for me to photograph them both for an ongoing project, I was struck by how comfortable Art was in front of the camera. My own father all but refused to be photographed, and that's kind of left me surprised any time someone who is roughly my father's age sits down for a shoot. Art, always in a good mood, turned out to be quite a ham. You'll notice in about half the images he was looking to my left. That's where his wife, Pat, was standing. I had to keep reminding him to look at the camera. It's a very sweet memory, and in my experience he was always a sweet man.
