I'm a third generation IATSE Local One stagehand, primarily on Broadway but also in TV and film. I mainly specialize in lighting, which aligns with my other passion, photography. I also work as a Unit Stills photographer, having shot for such productions as The Tonight Show, The Daily Show, CBS Sports, and many others. In that role, I discovered that as a subject, the show backstage is just as interesting as the show on stage. I began shooting more and more documentary behind the scenes photos, and started to think about how I could work to show what the lives of stagehands are actually like.
For some time now, I've had a couple projects running at the same time. First, I've completed a book on the tools my father and grandfather used in their careers as carpenters on Broadway, at The Metropolitan Opera, and in TV. Click on the cover below to read more about it:
Additionally, I've been photographing stagehands, both at work and in more formal settings. If you're a stagehand and you've landed here randomly from someplace like Google, welcome. I'm interested in photographing as many of us as possible, so please reach out either here or at my Instagram page and we'll set something up.
